A couple today, there is a new 8 1/2 by Eleven, this one is number 554, and this is getting interesting. Paranoia, and flirting abound, we will see what happens when Leyla returns. Also there is new Fetus-X. This one’s for my Black Brothers.
Wait there is three . . . a new poem from Christopher Morris . . . this one is called A Farmer’s Prayer . . . As I told Chris, he’s like Cesar Chavez crossed with Willie Nelson.

An interesting song, One After 909. Written by Lennon, what makes this song so interesting is that the song was originally attempted to be recorded in 1963. It was recorded during the same sessions that included their third single, From Me To You. The Beatles were very unhappy with the attempt, and scrapped the recording. There are surviving recordings of not only that session but also a recording in 1960 that appeared on later Anthology albums. You can actually hear the older one on this YouTube video (1963) and this one (1960). Would have been very interesting to hear this released in 1963 . . .
The song obviously hearkens back to late 50’s and early 60’s rock and roll, the earlier recording and much simpler, and the latter much harder, and shows the direction from beginning to end. Billy Preston plays electric piano on the version being played. Even the latter version, is fairly straightforward rocker. It is also a jam session style song and in part of the rooftop concert for Let It Be.
Most people also cite the song was probably written sometime in ‘57-58, during the Quarrymen years.
