The Letter

Plugs:
A few today, lets start with a Third Option Media one.  Our blogging bucko, Angryman, has switch to WordPress and moved his blog over to TOM.  Check it out, and tell him what a great job he did on it.  As always you are all welcome to move your blog there, just contact me.

Ok, some plugs, you will have a lot of reading to do today.  First, Tainted Love Erotic Stories updated with a new poem called Desire and Sensuality.  As always, TLES is rated 18 and up and is mature, hence the link to the splash.  Also be warned their might be some nudity in the ads there.

State of Denial also updated with a new one called Loyalism.  No nudity there.

Also, Meet the Heroes updated.   This series just get better and better and the plot more intricate.  I am going to start an illustrated version of it soon.  Issue Two; Part 9 now up.

That is it for today.

You are listening too . . .
Wonderful Christmastime from Sir Paul McCartney.  This song is interesting in comparison to Lennon’s Christmas song, Happy Xmas (War is Over) some 8 years earlier.  It really shows some of the distinct song writing differences, and also where McCartney’s music was headed in the 80’s (this song being ‘79).

Ok, Malach’s Meme.
Malach is creating a meme with this blog.  I stole this from a recent Bill Simmons article and I thought it would be a very interesting Meme.  Here are the rules.

  1. Link back to the person who tagged you.
  2. Imagine you could send a letter back in time to yourself, when you were 13 years old, what would you write to yourself?
  3. Tag 5 people to do this blog

Ok, so here is Malach sending a letter back in time to the year 1985.

Dear Malach,
This is your 35 year old self, it is the year 2007, and I writing to tell you about yourself and a few things to look out for, look forward too, and avoid in you upcoming life.

First and most importantly, the technology leap over the past 20 years is pretty amazing.  We have so much instant communication, not only with phones (which are tiny, wireless, take pictures, and do all sort of neat things), but with this massive thing called the Internet.  Here in 2007, everyone has a home computer, and every computer all over the world in connected to one another via the Internet.  We have this thing called e-mail.  You type what ever you want to into a computer, and instantly send that message to another persons electronic mailbox.  The Internet is amazing, all the information, games, pornography, opinions of the world are at your finger tips.  While we still have libraries, they are pretty much obsolete.

So, this is my first request of you.  See, when you went to art school, there was a psuedo-Internet, computer graphics programs were cumbersome and sucked, well, dive into it, learn all you can, and begin researching websites in 1995.  Learn them and be one of the first.  You will make a TON of money.

1985 huh?  Be prepared.  1986, the Celtics will win it all again, with perhaps one of the best basketball teams of all time.  Enjoy it.  The Celtics to this point 27 years later haven’t seen a Championship since, and have been pretty bad.  Except this year, shades of 1986 . . . we will see, they are currently 12 – 2.  The Red Sox, will make the World Series in ‘86, but they will make you cry with perhaps the most heartbreaking loss ever in their history (you will reel at the name Bill Buckner for years), but don’t fret, it will take a while for them to come back to the big show, but as of this year they won in all in 2004 and 2007, and going forward, they are set up for years of greatness.  Awesome ownership.  Shocking huh?

As for the Patriots, they haven’t been good in a long time for you, well this year ’85-’86 they will make their first Super Bowl, but they will run into a Bears team that might be the greatest of all time.  It will embarrassing defeat but don’t fret.  See what San Fran is doing?  That will be the Patriots from year 2000 until now, they will win three in that period, and right now, they are undefeated and perhaps the greatest football team ever.  Just remember three names:  Brady, Belichick (yeah the one with the Giants), and Kraft.

Oh and the Bruins, you will wish it is 1986.

What more can I tell you.  You will meet this girl in college with the initials JD.  You will date her, but break up with her after 6 months, don’t waste a few years with her like I did, and don’t get engaged to her like I did.  Enjoy yourself, trust me on this one.

You will meet the greatest woman you have ever met (well beyond Mom and Memere)at a cool job you have at a place called Discovery Zone while still in college.  You will have a awesome wedding, 2 wonderful kids.  Don’t lose sight of you love for her, and don’t ever take her for granted.  She is your soulmate.

When you get you first really good high paying job, don’t buy that red sports car.  Instead buy property, specifically a three decker in the city of New Bedford.  You can probably get it for $60,000, and when you lose that good job, the rental income will pay you and the mortgage.  The place will be worth $275,000 today.  After you do well with the first apartment, buy some land in Dartmouth, by the Mall, sell it for a huge profit in the 90’s; talking millions here.

Some stuff to invest in, and these names will sound funny to your 1980’s ears:  Wal*Mart, Amazon, Microsoft, and especially Google.  Yeah, I told you they sound funny, the last three are part of this Internet and computer revolution deal.  Also invest in alternative to fossil fuels for all your properties.

Whatever you do, don’t join the military, there will be several wars in the Middle East, including one going on now for the past 6+ years.  I know you never did, but if I am changing your/my past, you might.

There is stuff in this time that would shock you:  Discs with obscure things you saw as a kid, and now can see whenever you like (stuff like old shows, and movies that you talk about with your buddies with hazy memory of at college), and don’t get me started on YouTube.  Television, yeah I know you have cable, it goes up into the 800’s of channels now, and MTV, that cool station you saw all this cool music on, yeah they don’t play music anymore.  You can watch 8 different football games on the same time on the same screen, there is this one station the flips from game to game and skips commercials and shows the best part of games.  We have these tiny devices that can hold thousands upon thousands on songs in them.  You can instantly record anything, even live sporting events and rewind things you just saw, while it is still recording.

Oh Yeah, Geeks and Dungeons and Dragons freaks rule the world.  Funny no?

Ok.  Anyone who reads this feel free to do  this meme, and link it in my comments so I can read it.  And to get the ball rolling, I will tag 5 people (5 I know will do this, and 5 I really want to read):

  1. Mike:  I would love to read this.
  2. Sara Sue
  3. Tequila Mockingbird
  4. Preposterous Ponderings
  5. MOOOOOOOOG

With that I think I have a good representation of generations.  Do it guys this one is fun.
