Pale Blue Eyes
Published February 21st, 2008 in .Plugs
Today we have for you something new from Christopher Morris. This is another in the Juan Whiskey Saga, this one is The Night of Ideas.
Also, Bridget added me to her blogroll, so I will do the same.
You are listening too . . .
Pale Blue Eyes, by The Velvet Underground, and is dedicated to my wife and her pale blue eyes.
OK, got lots to get too tonight, so lets begin.
So, I got an email from Vincent Morris, the creator of Kid Intense. OK, so Vincent states we don’t know each other from the past. He is originally from upstate New York, and been drawing since he was a kid, which blows my theory that he is still a kid. Now, here is the kicker, he has recently moved to go work at a enclave. Now, working as I do in disability services, I am familiar with the term enclave as related to disabilities. An enclave is a place persons with disabilities can work along side other persons with disabilities in usually a manufacturing type setting, and usually for piecework.
Now I could be WAY OFF on this and I am sure Vincent will email me and tell me if I am. Anyway he is calling it a comedy series, which makes me feel better when I laugh at it.
So, you want a pic of Malach?
A couple people have noticed my new pic on my about page, and some of the geeks out there new immediately what form I took. Well my new internet love, Malicious Intent made this wonderful image from it.

I must say, that is quite the likeness, I think I am going to make a Sexy Blogger award out of this.
Thanks Tiff
Got to thank Tiff for the link to this. My god, I could spend months there. I guess I will get nothing done at work next week.
Yesterday
So, yesterday the wife, kids, and I went to Boston, specifically to the Museum of Science. If you are ever in the area, it is worth the trip and kept my 6 year old and 4 3/4 year old enraptured. We spent 6 hours there. Fun for young and old, and has a good mix of usual museum stuff, with the more modern stuff, and very interactive. We didn’t even do the IMAX, Planetarium, and Butterfly Garden and could of spent 2 or 3 more hours there. The best part; I haven’t been in a couple of years; but they completely rebuilt the food court and it is run by Wolfgang Puck Catering, so the food was good. One warning though, bring your wallet, we luckily had $5 each admission tickets, but normally for a family of four, it is $100 to get in. Food and gift shop was reasonable though.
Also, being one who hates to drive, and loving the environment (plus the kids love trains) we took the T, from just outside of Boston. A little aside, we took the train from Braintree, yes, that is the name of a real town (unfortunately the T doesn’t come to Southeastern MA yet). Braintree has always killed me. I just picture this huge evil tree with brains all over it . . .
Ok, so the T. If you are ever in Boston, the T is one of the least confusing and better run subway systems I have been on (beats NY hands down). You can get all over the city in the Subway, stops never being more than two blocks from anything (especially helpful for Red Sox/Celtics/Bruins games). Plus the T is old (oldest subway in US) so it has some cool features, like older style cars, cool architecture and tile work, and such (Park Street Station if fun and dangerous). Also, if you are visiting, you can get a $8 all day pass for the entire system, and kids under 12 ride for free. So we had all day passes.
Now, my wife was going to go back up to Boston,; her twin sister was singing the national anthem at the BU v. UMaine basketball game. Many of you know my wife’s twin is Autistic, and she was invited by BU to sing so she wanted to go. Well, by the time we were done at the Museum it was already 6PM. So, being on vacation we decided to take the kids to the game. Of course BU is on the other side of town, but the T Green line dropped you off basically in front of the arena.
The game was also being broadcast, at least locally on NESN. Of course, eseing the cute curly haired pigtailed 4 year old blondie in the front row, she got on TV a couple of times. The game; we only stayed until halftime, and Maine isn’t known for Basketball. They were also starting 4 freshmen. I think BU was up 28 to 6 when we left.
It is interesting to watch Div 2 Basketball. The biggest guy was about 6′ 9″ but most of the players were 6′ 4″ and under, I am 6′ or so, and did even feel too short next to most of them.
So, on the way back, the T in that part of town runs on the street like cable cars, and stops every couple of blocks, so we waited and hopped the train, forget to swipe our tickets when we did (we entered in the second car with no driver, not supposed to do that). My son noticed, but we explained it away by saying we had an all day pass and they electronically pick them. TAKE THAT THE MAN!
Was pretty tired when I got home hence the blog.
My latest remodel project.
For those of you who have been following my web stuff (4 years!) know, I have and old house that I like to remodel. Well, everything was on hold for our mortgage crisis. but now, I am back. I just realized half the pics are missing from that old WoW posts I linked too so I post them here:

Remodelled

Now, I started this week on my stairway. I have a older house, 1880’s or so, and of course you find fun surprises in old houses. The stairs are no exception. For a fairly large house, they are a strange staircase, kind of crammed into one corner going up in a spiral. I had to knock out part of a wall when we moved in to get some furniture up there and it has been that way since. A picture?

Now, this goes around the left side at a 90 degree angle then upstairs. As you can see, I got the partially knocked out wall on the left and in the process of moving, some of the ugly dark brown paneling (which is all over the freaking house) was knocked down (no big loss) and it has been like that for 2 years.
So, I ripped all the panelling and moulding down, and I have just about scraped all the 6 layers of wall paper away (borrowing a 10′ ladder to finish the rest). Yes, there is some OLD WALLPAPER on the bottom, late 1800’s plantation style. I have begun patching the holes in the horse hair lathe and plaster (ugh). Here is what is interesting. You figure with the age of the house, the entire house is horse hair plaster, but as you can tell by the dining room remodel, the entire dining room was done in 1930’s style drywall. This stair too, the entire left side of the pic, which is the exterior wall is horse hair plaster, but to the right is a 1960’s style of drywall, hence some stair remodeling/moving in the past. I am hoping to be done by next week, unfortunately the wife is refusing to help with the Wall Paper scraping, as she just wanted to paint the whole thing. On the plus side, the carpet is only 4 years old, no actually stairs redoing which is a life saver. I will post a WoW article when complete.
John McCain
So, what has the Albino Midget done now? The GOP should be happy, at least it is not a secret homosexual love affair like they usually have. It will be interesting to see in the next few days what comes out of this and if it is his undoing. Is will also be interesting to see how the GOP reacts to a possibility of a Bill Clinton in their midst.
Akira
This is making me sick. I really don’t know how you could do a 2 hour Hollywoord production of this amazing Anime. If you have never seen Akira, do yourself a favor. According to the Wikinazis, it looks like it will be two films, and of course Americanized.
Now, Anime, some of it is good, some of it is really bad. I will blog more on that tomorrow.
Some MMA news
Well, it seems Bob Sapp is trying to make a name in America. Sapp, while a huge beast got exposed by a few good MMA artists, it will be interesting to see how it goes. Additionally Marc Cuban upstart HDNet Fights has a contract brewing with Randy Couture. . maybe we will see the Fedor vs. Couture fight after all!
Hey Drew Peterson!
We missed you buddy!
Well they shot it down.
And didn’t kill anyone. Interesting article though, a move by the US which would do the Cold War proud.
You know.
You Muslims really need to give it a rest. You come off as whiny 6 year olds.
Malach’s Video of the Day
Ok, I couldn’t resist one more
I am Malach and turn around bright eyes.

Thanks for reciprocating. I have a suspicious you might be a literary genius Demi God type person. I’ll delurk once in while. I love it here.
B.
I love Boston’s Museum of Science. Boy, did we have a blast there last summer. Hah! I always liked that name “Braintree”, too. My favorite transportation in Boston are the water taxis. There used to be this young guy with long blond hair who crewed on one; I was forever asking my parents, when they lived up there, if they’d seen “my Viking”. They knew who I meant.
B: Just a struggling artist
HTGT: Yeah, Boston is cool, not as cool ad NYC, but cool still.
UHMM a curvy handrali will be better there o-0
I think there should be an art contest on the best representation of Malach the Merciless. You should get some interesting submissions and perhaps start a MTM museum.
What the fuck? why did you tear down that beautiful wood paneling? that shit’s classy!
Toyi: Yeah, I am going to work on some nice moulding and woodwork for the stairs
MI: GREAT IDEA!
Teq: No, 1970’s dark brown luan thin panelling. I HATE PANELING. It looks cheap.
Ah - the handrail was bugging me too, so glad to know it’s going, going, gone.
I wonder if the Sciecne Museum is open late in summer/ I’ll be in Bahston in late June, and would LOVE to go, but the all day meetings I’m chained to are the suck. Hrmph.
Also - “live action anime”? WTF? That’s just wrong.
Home remodeling. Ugh! I’ve done it, including ripping out the hideous dark cheap paneling, and it was worth it. Still, if I never have to do it, I will be one happy camper.
Good for you for doing it! You’re a braver man than I.
Lovely!!
Cool Velvet Underground track! Haven’t heard it in ages.
Loving those before and after pictures - well done on the decorating.
Oh, and we have a town in the UK called ‘Braintree’ too.
x
Tiff: Yeah I like the wall without it. A the MOS is open all year round.
Phoebe’s: I get it from Mom, who is in her 50’s and still loves to do it.
Toyi: That’s Loverly to you
Kitty: Thanks, and yes, our New “England” forefathers weren’t too creative, they are all named after European Cities of Indian Names
