Plugs
Lots of plugs today. First the next couple of pages of Kid Intense are up. Chapter Three pages 10 and 11 will take a bite out of your beast!
Also Episode 35 of the Sleazy Advetures of Dick Biggman is also up. What can I say, Dick is Dick.
Also, another new episode of Sunshine is up. This one of course is dedicated to the Egyptians, and also features a new t-shirt

The latest book I am reading
Currently reading The Roadfrom Cormac McCarthy. All I can say is My God, I can’t put this book down, it is amazing. Full review when I am done with it.
I found my new religion
Ok, so between recent reading VALIS, and all the crazy religious stuff going on on Battlestar Galactica, I think I found me a new religion combining the two.

Seasons of Love from the musical RENT. I was actually very lucky to see the first year run with the original cast. RENTwas pretty amazing to me back then. Even now, the music from it stirs my heart. This song is something I am using in an upcoming video I am creating. I also dedicate it to this special blog.
Kitty, Pre Pon, Malicious Intent, Eve, and many others.
Many of you know a number of my blog friends are going through a particularly tough time tight now (Mike medical issues nonewithstanding). Right now Kitty and Pre Pon in particular and in the past MI and Eve have all gone through a periods of a broken marriage, abandonment, anger, embarrassment, and number of things associated with men abandoning their wives, children, and obligations.
I see this everday at my job. 95% of our homeless clients are single moms (most of them in their 30’s) whose husbands, or babies father ran out on them, got thrown in jail, or just took them for a ride.
It is a real shame. It is very sad. Now, don’t get me wrong, if a marriage is over, I am not encouraging one to stick it out (of course don’t dive out of a marriage at the drop of a hat either), but take care of your kids, and mother to your children, especially if they have custody of them.
Just know, as time passes life gets better, just look at Malicious Intent. And PrePon especially, if you need help, just in terms of accessing services, contact me.

I read “The Road” last year. It took awhile to recover from it, but it was really impressive. I’ll be curious to know what you think of it. It’s being made into a movie. My Viggo is playing the father.

I see the same things at my job that you see at yours. We have a HUGE divorce rate in the disability community. Most of the time the pressure of the disability splits people up. But so often I just see father’s walking away beacuse they don’t want to deal with it. I don’t understand why society makes it “OK” for the Dad’s to walk out and not the mother’s. I do know there are some Mom’s who walk out, but they are much more rare and they are also demonized if they do. One of society’s double standards.
Horrible short story. I actually had a father call me one day years ago and he asked me this question “How far can I abuse my child, so that the state will take him away from me, but won’t arrest me.?” My answer, “Why don’t you call the police and ask them, I am sure they will know.” Our conversation was cut short.
Asshole.

MI: We have 2 of 120 families that are single father households, and 1 that is a complete married family. Of the rest about 30 are singles and the rest are single moms, again most of them 30+ which blows the stereotype. The double standard exists in our community becuase of the rap/gang culture, sorry to say it, and it applies to all races. As for the Dad who called you, I would have to report him as a mandated reporter. but also in MA, you can self report to the Department of Social Services.
Your right, disability either unites or tears apart a family.

Oh watch the Fox sports NASCAR pre-race show today of FOX, 1pm est. I “think” we will have a small bit on the walk on that show. At least I was being asked for the logo and photos late last night and to make it snappy.

Hi Malach - thanks hun, much appreciated. Still haven’t found anywhere for the kids and I to live, but have had offers of places for us to stay with friends and family for the time being, so that’s what we’ll be doing. Up to my eyes in packing boxes, and bags of ’stuff’. When I eventually get somewhere, I’ll be chucking out SO MUCH STUFF!
