RIP George Carlin
The world lost last night, a comedic genius in George Carlin. Maybe only Richard Pryor did more for comedy, Carlin is consistently ranked by his peers in the top three comedians of all time, in the same breath as Lenny Bruce, Pryor, and Andy Kaufman. Carlin was the thinking man’s comic, a man who would make fun of the state of the world, unabashedly, make routines out of murder, suicide, and of course, his famous 7 Words. A true genius who will be sorely missed. There are a number of tributes to him in the blogesphere, check em out.
RIP Honoratio Faria
My friend Theresa’s Father passed away this weekend also, and although he was in the 70’s, is was a heart attack, and sudden. Honoratio was like many of the Portuguese who came to the region 40 years ago. Had kids, learned English, cool old Portuguese guy, loved his homemade liquor. RIP.

OK, so we were up against the 4th place Misfits today, and we were missing our best hitter, both power and average wise. No problem though. Let me load a map for you.
This is Livesey Field, our home field. So Bobby comes up in the first inning hit a monster homerun if you look to the top of the image, off image, just barely is a snack stand, his hit went within 2o’ of that, about a 325′ shot (remember wooden bats, slowpitch softball). Most left fielders play just inside that foul pole, so that was quite a shot. Bases get loaded with 2 outs for Malach. Before I tell you about what happened, even though Malach is a big strong guy, I am a placement hitter, more in the style of Wade Boggs, but I have been working on power this past year. My aim when I went up was to take a strike, the go after the next strike, and take it to whatever field, the pitch was leaning me towards. Well, I got one in my wheelhouse and cranked one over the left fielders head, maybe 30′ past the foul pole. Grand Slam. First one ever in my career.
We ended up winning 11 - 5. Good game overall.

I am for one if career ended today think he should get in. His big games, his coming to Boston and helping win 2 WS. A lot of people disagree, but Jayson Stark makes a strong argument for, and with the changing to pitching over the past 10 - 15 years, I think he right.
Wow.
So, if I had to pick the Armies first 4 star female general, I think she would look exactly like this. I wonder if she is married? Probably not. Probably has lived with the same female roomate for the past 15 years like all the Catholic School Principals army chicks I know.

OH man,I was sooooo going to pick out the baseball and football video of George (because you all know my love for the two sports!) Especially after bitching here about your OCD and sports. But then, Murk…well how could I not pick the Ten Commandments one?? It was poetry in motion, or some shit like that.
If Murk is your brother, I am so sorry. I know we cannot pick our families. He truly must be Satan (if one were to believe in such a thing.) It’s the good brother vs the evil brother sort of thing. Maybe you two should run a church. I think running a non-profit is enough. You can both worship Kid Intense and his hot (???) Mom (Sister??)
Anyway, George rules, the other comedians today are all a bunch of wuss bags who are too afraid to push the limits as they may offend someone. Isn’t that what good comedy is all about anyway? At least he had the balls to do it his way.
