Mooog: I met Manny once. My Special Olympics Softball team got to go on the field before a game, and stand at position with players. He was funny and nice, but is was a quick meeting

Colonel: Let the Jason Bay era start, we are officially now the “Bay State”.

In the end they had to trade him to be fair to the other players who actually show up and play hard every day- Manny’s utter lack of support for his teamates was simply too much of an insult to be allowed to go on. Dogging it on a potential infield hit that could have broken up a no-hitter showed exactly how much pride he took, and exactly how hard he wasn’t willing to play. See ya later.

He would not give us a picture or an autograph – either then, or when we saw him later that day on the street in front of our hotel.

He. Is. An. Ass.

We’ll miss his bat and his presence for sure. But I’m not going to miss hearing about him year after year after year – both at training camp and at the trade deadlines.
