Staff Appreciation Day
So, today was Staff Appreciation Day at work, so the lot of us went to Fort Taber, had a cookout, hung out, had fun, and such. There is a cool interactive map of Fort Taber and the different embankments and such here. New Bedford is drummming up money in an attempt to restore Fort Taber, and all the embankments, as most are in severe disrepair, and overgrown. Here are some pics I took a few years ago:

Perhaps the funkiest dead black crooner, Curtis Mayfield, with Pusherman. Mayfield of course ushered in funk, but also the socially concious lyrics with Sly Stone, and Stevie Wonder in the 70’s. Great song, a shame what happened to him later in life.
The DNC Day One
Wow, beyond Uncle Teddy; Michelle Obama. Perhaps a wildcard in his candidacy, she awesome last night. I was worried that she was going to bring his campaign down, but now I think she is the best potential First Lady in a long time. The key tonight will be Hillary . . . she could tear this party down tonight.

Fort Taber is kewl. Kinda reminds me of Fort Delaware, which years ago was in shambles until it was turned over as a state park. Now it is has a living history program, nice and clean and on a small island in the middle of the Delaware River. Fun places to go exploring, especially with a camera.

Hillary was AWESOME last night. Didn’t hurt that the gov from Montana got the crowd fired up before she got on stage either. I really felt she did a great job and helped the campaign.
MI is right — Hillary was by far the highlight of last night. She’s done everything she can do to bring her supporters over, and that speech was the perfect example of what a great job she’s doing. The PBS team was correct when it said that it’s now time for Obama to go out and win the votes.

MI: The city owns the fort, and it is in much better condition now than say 15 years ago. UMASS has moved there, as well as some city services in brand new buildings, so there has been a major remodel of the park itself. The forts are in process of $6million being raised to redo them, which will rock. Wait until your see the rest of the Legends of the Superheroes.
