Today we got the latest installment of The Sheppard Chronicles, Episode 4 is now up.  I’d have more, but I am too busy trying to finish this website by the end of the weekend, so I can bill them.

You are listening too . . .
Institutionalized from Suicidal Tendencies, it will go with the next rant.

In Leiu Dear Malach . .
An answer to Dr. Murk and a comment he made yesterday.  I reprint the comment for you:

Bitter bitter people. You want to help unwed teenage mothers, but mock a girl because her mom is a Republican. You are all biased against the elderly, but want government plans to pay for their healthcare. You’re the ‘caring, sensitive’ people who want change, but only if YOU feel vindicated and educated.

And now, we should judge a party by how many ‘ethnicities’ are represented??? That’s bigotry. You define yourselves by touting how diverse you are, proving you think of your own white biggot ass as different and superior and that to be a good person, you should let the ‘colored people’ in. You are closet racists who massage your own hate with rhetoric.

Where were all the Asians at the DNC? Where were the Lebanese? Where were the First Americans? Just because you’re a psuedointellectual, and you hate Christians because they have a faith that makes them feel good, doesn’t mean you are better. You are worse. You are hypocrites.

You bash Christians? WHY? Did they cause poverty, inequality and economic stagnation? Christians follow the teachings of Christ, which are far more compassionate than your idiotic, snippy little smart assed social blindness.

You read shit on CNN and regurgitate it. You don’t understand the power and purpose of the Executive Branch, the responsibilities of a Vice President and you sure as hell don’t have a fucking clue how congress works.

Do yourself a service and find out how your government works, how the money gets collected and allocated, how civil and criminal law is legislated, interpreted and enforced. Find out how a popular election works and that it is not the same as a general election. Learn about districts and delegates and Electors.

Figure a damn thing out before you spout your canned lies and nonsense. Name calling, fake photos, old jokes and whining irrational hatred for people you’ve never met is stupid. It’s not smart politics. It’s a danger to us all.

I respect Joe Biden. I respect Hillary Clinton. I understand the agenda of the Democratic Party. It’s fine. It’s a difference of opinion. Get the FUCK over it. All this slander and childish logic is making you look like idiots.

You are better than that, Democrats. Stand up and make a real case FOR your party.

First, I really don’t need to make a case for the Democrats, Dubya has done a really good job of that over the past 8 years.  Why do we attack?  It is out time.  We are sick of the Rush Limbaugh’s, Bill O’Reilly’s, and such and love to watch them realize they picked another idiot to lead them.  Did you see McCain’s speech last night?  He made a fool of himself, and frankly, I am pretty sick of President who come across as an idiot on camera.  Vladimir Putin is so much more a leader than what we have, he runs circles around the idiots in the White House, so does Mamoo Ahmadinejad, and it’s sad that I as a freedom loving American have to say that.  Dubya embarasses himself deaing with these guys.  Is is sad it has come to this.  McCain is just a continuation of these dumb cowboy politics and redneck diplomacy.

It think it is hilarious the GOP is running scared, and the biggest moment of the election so far is Sarah Palin, not cause she had anything worthwhile to say, just cause she is hot and is actually good on camera.  Listening to the Neo Cons this morning, they know their goose is cooked, Obama is gonna run rings around McCain in the debates, one of them even said today, it is too bad Palin couldn’t take him on.  You know what else one of the idiots said this morning?  “Oh, the president does not need to be a good leader of people.”  WHAT?  So we need more of the same like we had with Dubya?  Look at McCain, McCain barely graduated naval school, 2nd to last in his class, but beacuase Daddy was a big shot admiral he squeaked by,; sounds AWFULLY familiar?  Now, I give him the utmost respect for his military service, and the sacrifice he made in Vietnam, but how does that help him as president?  I would think, Barak, a mixed race from a poor single mother background, rising to make something of himself, is much more representative of the US experience, than McCain.  The fact he did not let race get in the way, and built himself to what he was . . . and I wanted to smack Palin the other day.  “Community Organization, that’s not work.”  As a community organizer myself, she should take he ass down to my job one day and see how little work it really is.

I also have a problem with the whole Evangelical Support of the GOP why the GOP?  They are willing to overlook questionable morality: McCain’s first marriage, his more recent impropriaties, and Palin’s daughter (she doesn’t support sex ed, on abstinence, STUPIDEST POLICY EVER), and some of the ethical issues as Governor of Alaske.  They like Republican cause they are anti-abortion?  The GOP are also big believers is capital punisment.  And the Evangelicals themselves?  I don’t seem them living Jesus’s message of helping your fellow man, not judging, and turning the other cheek.  Seems to me, they spend all their time translating scripture, and worshipping and not enough time doing the work in the trenches.

But they a quick to judge,; the best president we have had in 20 years, Bill Clinton, for an affair?  I will usw the Neo Cons argument they use for Bristol Palin pregnancy: How does that effect him doing his job?  And don’t give me that perjury bullshit, cause he refused to answer if he was having and affair?  What is Congress doing divorces now?  Biggest waste of taxpayer money ever.

This country cannot afford 4 more years of GOP economic policy; they are going to put me into the poorhouse.  What is there postive about the past 8 years?  We are in a unwinnable “War on Terror”.  Remember Reagan’s War on Drugs, yeah we won that too.  Our economy is as bad as it was in the 70’s (and don’t be fooled, Carter’s economic policies is what pulled us out of it, Reaganomics took advantage of the prosperity and then Bush Sr. took the blame when trickle down economics went south), our debt is the highest ever, when Clinton balanced it 6 out of 8 years, I cannot think of one good thing the Dubya Administration has done, not one.  Wanna site 9/11 like they always do?  How is that good, it happened on his watch, not anyone elses.  How about Katrina?

I also don’t want a 71 year old president (sorry Memere); Reagan’s last term was a mess.   I don’t see what McCain will do, that another 4 years of Dubya wouldn’t.  We need a new direction, we need a strong leader, we need a mediator, we need someone who is willing to talk, and not invade a country.

One last thought, what is up with the last three GOP Presidential Candidates?  There are all disabled.  You got Bob Dole, who could only use one of his hands, McCain who is short and can’t lift his arms higher that his chest, and Dubya, who I swear is boderline intellectual functioning.

Now, this was a long rant, if you have questions of me, please list them and I will address them for you.  Also, I realize CNN leans one particular way, but seriously, FOX News’s website sucks.  Brutal navigation.

McCain’s Speech
Ok, I have seen most of it, and he is as bad a public speaker and Dubya.  This is another problem I have.  I am embarassed by my President.  You or I should not be more intelligent than the President of the USA.  Also notice there were not old white guys protesting Barack’s acceptance speech.  I actually loved it, the world is missing that 1960’s protests.

For Better or for Worse
Malach admits it, he is a fan of Lynn Johnston For Better or for Worse.  It is one of the reason I like 8 1/2 by Eleven, Lucas has a similar story telling style.  So a lot of long time fans are upset with what Johnston has done to the strip over the past few months.  Give the woman a break, she has been doing this for almost 30 years, has some health issues, and is going a though a divorce.  She has signed a book and movie deal, so she is busy with other things.

What I like about FBofW, is the stories she has put together that were taboo.  Farley’s death is still awesome, Lawrence coming out of the closet, Elizabeth almost getting raped . . . just like it for what it is and get over it.

One of the two goals that I have this year is to learn more about the government and politics of my country. I can honestly say that I am not versed well enough in politics and parties to comment. I would love to work on a local campaign and learn what I can. I watched the RNC and I thought the majority of the speeches from both sides were empty crowd pleasers.

Malach, on another note I had a huge fight with the principal at Stang. I will have to tell you about it at lunch.

  2. 2 Ben Byrd

Thanks for getting that one up, Malach. I started working on the next installment yesterday!

  3. 3 Colonel Colonel

Interesting- I haven’t heard one single person mock Sarah Palin’s pregnant daughter for being pregnant. I have heard a lot of questions about what light that might cast on Palin’s judgment concerning her continued support of “abstinence-only” programs, and opposition to sex education in the schools, and it seems to me that this is a legitimate topic. And the GOP cannot have it both ways- do NOT wave your oldest son who’s about to be shipped off to Iraq around the podium and then tell us your daughter is off limits. That’s hypocrisy.

  4. 4 Malicious Intent

    Amen Brother!

I would like to see some of these middle class ($5 million a year income) folks come down into the trenches and do the work we do and see the reality of the current administrations policies in place. But will they? No. They are to good to get their hands dirty or face reality.

It’s all about the sound bite.

  5. 5 Murky

    MI:

I make much less than you. I work for three charitable organizations. I donate over $3000.00 a year to help the homeless, the victims of substance abuse, and people in south America.

Many of my Republican friends do the same.

One of the largest charitable organizations in America is filled with Republicans, The Masons. So, shut the fuck up about the trenches. I wipe the drool off the faces of the elderly. I’ve changed their diapers. I’ve cleaned a shit stained bus for my DMR clients. And I loved those clients beyond any measure of love you associate with people you hate, for no reason.

Republicans aren’t George Bush. Republicans aren’t all millionaires. Democratic Politicians are in the highest tax bracket as well. Your lack of reason scares me.

Colonel - A seventeen year old girl who sees herself plastered all over the news in a smear campaign feels mocked. It HAS to affect her. “Palin can’t control her own kids!” you all shout. How does that make her daughter feel?

    FUCK YOU!

You only care if it benefits you. You don’t care who you hurt or attack. She said she was proud of her daughter as well as her son. She didn’t say, “I’m proud of my son, so make my daughter feel like a hero too.” She brought them both up. YOU people made it seem like her daughter is Paris Hilton and Mrs. Palin is some blind housewife who lets her kids run in the dump naked looking for trouble.

Your fault. Where’s your support for her daughter. Say it. Say you support her daughter, you fucking hypocrite!!!!

  6. 6 Murky

Yeah, I also love Malach’s ridiculous summary that all Christians fit his profile. Why don’t you say all muslims are bomb making terrorists? All Jews are evil money changers. All Hindus rip off people at their stores.

A stereotype is a stereotype, whether you approve of it or not. It’s unfair, nearsighted and dumb.

  7. 7 Colonel Colonel

what smear campaign. Sorry- you can’t make “family valuers” a cornerstone of your party and then expect a mulligan. If it makes the daughter feel badly I’m sorry. And it’s not up to me to support her- that’s her family’s responsibility. Remember- personal responsibility? That’s why the GOP cut all the social-aid programs.

  8. 8 Colonel Colonel

Dr, M- You are right about one thing however. Having spent the last dozen or so years watch the Republican Slime Machine pulverize good, honorable people like Max Cleland, make Chelsea Clinton the butt of horrible jokes, and generally personally vilify anyone who crosses them, I am a bit troubled by their recent attempts to put up “do not cross” signs when they are under attack. Fuck them. they’re just finally getting a little payback, and if a few innocent folks get hurt, that’s too damned bad. The body count of innocent folks who were victims of their smear machine is much higher than theirs. I’m not defending it or saying its right when either side does it, but at this point I do have a hard time caring anymore. Fuck ‘em all. They brought this on themselves. Bushies and their ilke are the absolute LAST ones i want to hear whine about collateral damage.

  9. 9 Murky

You’re an ass. I never supported the attacks on the Clintons. By your rationale, if someone kills my brother, I have a right to kill their family.

    Hypocritical idiot.

You espouse ideals you don’t even have. You do it to make yourself look progressive and enlightened. You are NOT. You’re a hate filled piss ant who can’t make a life for himself, so he looks for everyone else to blame.

And the Palins ARE taking care of themselves. I have an idea. Seeing as how it’s okay to make people feel bad, why don’t you send some death threats or destroy property like Operation Pink? Yeah. You really know what it means to be a human being.

  10. 10 Colonel Colonel

    Wow, somebody needs a hug.

  11. 11 Malicious Intent

Malach are you SURE you and Murk are from the same gene pool? Planet even?

Murk…usually angry people who attack so visiciously are insecure, and trying to hide something be redirecting the real problem into a debate over name calling.

I am still trying to figure out why OUR President could not get water, just even water to the people stranded at the superdome during Katrina when CNN could get in there with no problem. We have no trouble helping out the countries that provide oil for us.

And BTW… I have wiped up more shit, drool, piss and puke than you ever have or will. And I did not sign up for it, I was recruited as a parent who must live with the constant budget cuts to special services. That is not slander, that is not name calling. That is just fact.

  12. 12 Malicious Intent

Col Col, I’ll take that hug and raise you 20.

  13. 13 AngryMan

    FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!

Put me in an institution said it was the only solution, said I need professional help to save me from the enemy myself!

MI: I would love to be one of those $5mil a year Middle Class

  20. 20 Malicious Intent

If we cannot do hugs, can we do wedgies?

    Drugs not Hugs!
Make Love not War (and make babies)

You can teach, you can preach…but all it takes is a 5 minute stupid attack to gain a dependent. If you tell kids NOT to do something, they immediately go out and do it. Everyone knows that, especially Palin’s kids.

  21. 21 Malicious Intent

Oh, and when did I start making more than Murk as a P/T employee. I cannot work full time because there is no childcare for kids like mine. At least none that this family can afford.

  22. 22 Malach the Merciless

    MI: Touche

  23. 23 acrosstheuniverse

    Hello Malach,

I love your blog but I don’t understand the way it’s laid out and I’m confused. But that’s okay…I’ll figure it out long enough to post this letter from my sister, the beloved Stargirl. It was written to our parents, in response to their incessant Republicanesque taunting of her so that they can feel some power. She’s really tired of it. She just feels like their collateral damage so they can make their narrow-minded point.
She works her ass off as a teacher and is the breadwinner of her family, and she can’t believe her ears that at the GOP convention, she heard that the solution to the problems in public schools was to “get rid of the bad teachers”. Of course, that is just the tip of the nauseating iceberg that was the convention we all gagged upon.
As the informed, thinking party, of COURSE we watched the convention. But alas, “Did you watch the convention” was my parents’ rhetorical piece of garbage bait they laid before her once again in order to get her goat. They have no interest in her values nor any intention of trying to understand them.
No more, she said…it’s useless to talk sensibly with them. She ended the conversation with this letter. (I’m sorry to have taken up so much space, but MI suggested I do this):

    Dear Mom and Dad,

Don’t ask me if I saw the Republican Convention, unless you want to know what I saw. I saw people cheering for hatred. Hatred of everything I hold to be true in a great America… the ridiculing of community activism, the disgust for teachers, schools and teachers’ unions, the mockery of parents who have sacrificed career advancement for the sake of their children, the pity of the poor fools who didn’t marry millionaires or have the misfortune to get shot down in Vietnam…and incredulously they called this “patriotic.”

What I saw was a crowd who was finally energized because they have a polarizing figure as VP on the ticket …someone who they truly hope can create a real “culture war”…small towns against big cities, red against blue, black against white, Christian against Muslim, PTAs against teachers, talk radio against America, family against family … This is what they called “Country First.” In his final words, to a roaring crowd, I heard the candidate say “fight…stand up and fight!”

I saw some brave fighters in that convention hall, three protesters of an immoral war in Iraq, grabbed and escorted out of the room… and then I was told by the candidate for president not to be “distracted by the ground noise and static.” Will we ever stop sweeping away the nation’s consciousness while wasting our treasures on this war?

You don’t have to ask me if I saw the Republican Convention, because I’m watching this election closely. I had the nerve to google: Sarah Palin, obviously before the McCain camp did. I’m one of those “liberals” with questions that will not be allowed of this new Vice Presidential candidate. I’m one who hopes the press will be allowed to ask questions before the likes of O’Reilly and Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity cleverly sell a woman they hardly know to the American people. I hear them repeat the Republican talking point- an outcry for the “bullying” of a self-proclaimed “pitbull in lipstick,” Sarah Palin. They are bringing back the war of the sexes: one war that I thought was over before I even became a woman. How many wars do they plan to provoke in order to create enough “ground noise and static” to distract us from the real issues so that the Republican Party can retain their power?

Finally, since you are my family, please don’t ask me about politics ever again because we never end up feeling like we belong to each other. At first, I always feel a need to “stand up and fight” like your candidate encourages us to do. But then I realize, like him, you only want a fight to justify why you pity me… for working too hard, caring too much, and marrying a blue-collar man. After one of these “fights” I feel like collateral damage in your war against the bleeding heart liberals.

It is why I tell my daughters “You can be anything you want to be…you are going to make the world a better place”… I hear you implying that I am pandering to them. I do not define success by the amount of money in a bank account but by the love and compassion in a heart… I hear you advise my daughters to marry wealth. Wealth alone will not ensure a brighter future for this family. I don’t want to be a pitbull in lipstick, and I don’t want you holding one up as a role-model for your granddaughters, so I say…ENOUGH!

I don’t want you to call me names anymore….bohemian, juvenile delinquent, socialist…ENOUGH! Our time together is short and I am passionate about the America I envision for your granddaughters and grandsons. I know this is a disappointment to you, but I’m clearly not going to be able to please you. My focus is on the future. In America, you may support any ideology you choose. I am going to knock on doors for mine today.

    Your daughter,
    xxxx

  24. 24 Murky

This is so awesome. I LOVE the fact that everyone debates hard here! This is what America should be.

  25. 25 Malicious Intent

Put a cork in it Murk. Much Love,
    M.I.

  26. 26 acrosstheuniverse

…and I thought Murk was being complimentary. I guess I’m such a pie-in-the-sky, positive-thinking liberal. I’m so sorry to have thought the best of what you were saying, Murk.
