My Kitchen Floor . .
Well, she is done and look beautiful.  I replaced old brown linoleum sheeting with beautiful granite/slate/travertine combo tile. 2″ x 2″ tile set in a 12″ x 12″ sheet.  I have done a number of tiling jobs, but I have never worked with tile like this (only solid one piece) nor have I ever done a floor.  While I am not going to tell you how to do a tiling job (there are plenty of interweb places that do that), I will give you some impressions and advice.  First, this style of tile was ultra easy to work with, you just cut the mesh and voila.  I did a cheat a little as I have a rounded area, so I bought a sheet of 1″ x 1″ in the same style to fill in gaps.  Now, if you are going to cut and need to use a wet saw, used quite a few myself, they are very messy, so take it outside. 

Ok, back to my kitchen.  For the size of my house, about 2000 sq. feet, I have a small kitchen.  It is set in a large open room.  The room is about 12′ wide and 30′ long, and the kitchen is on the end of the room, open to the rest of the room, which we use as a dining room.  So the floor I had to do was only about 50 sq. feet.  I did learn a very important lesson when tiling floor.  BUY A SET OF KNEEPADS.  So, without futher ado, here is the floor, from a couple of angles:

As you can see, make a pretty awesome match with cabinet remodel we did about a year ago.  My one complaint is now we have to replace the countertops, which are butcher block and don’t match.  I am also doing the backsplash behind the stovetop next week (you cannot see in pics) bu it has white tile with flowers on it.  I am going to the left over tile and some old slate from my parent’s house.  I got one last pic:

Ahh yes, there is ugly brown linoleum.  I am replacing that with something like this.  Should look pretty frackin’s awesome.  Now, I know people are going to ask, already had relatives ask.  I get $25 per hour, you buy everything, and pay travel expenses, room and board.  Oh man, where did those sexy feet come from?

On positive aspect of our crappy economy.
Gas prices.  I got gas for $2.90 a gallon at BJ’s in Dartmouth 2 days ago.  I am still completely shocked, BJ’s hasn’t sold it’s Domain Name to a porn company, they could easily get $25 million for bjs.com

This is good to see . .
The one wild card I was worried about with the Obama Campaign, are the Clinton’s, who I am sure are still seething Hillary did not get the nomination, stick behind Obama.  They are still the first family of the Democratic Party, and any offhand comments, lack of support, or even indiffernce, I think could really effect his chances.
