Tom Traubert’s Blues (Four Sheets to the Wind in Copehagen) is off of Tom Waits third Album. People also know it as Waltzing Matilda which one can glean from chorous being almost word for word from the original. Here is the album where Waits evolved his crooning Louis Armstrong Voice. Like his previous two albums, very jazz inspired, with Bukowski type lyrics, but the voice began to change. Waits also began drinking more heavily, which also began to influence the music and his live shows, and his health took some turns for the worse and started a pretty dark period for Waits. Waits also made his first major TV appearance with this bizzare but typical Waits turn on Fernwood 2 Night.
Yeah and Martin Mull and Fred Williard are brilliant, this is circa 1977
St. Damien of Molokai
Well, I don’t know how to address this, who to congratulate, but the Catholic Church just recently Canonized Father Damien, and kudos to them for doing it. While Malach grew up Catholic, I am no longer a practicing one, more on a political theme, and and for one of the reasons I don’t like most religions, name the guilt, money grabbing, and distorting wonderful messages. I also personally don’t care if Jesus was the Son of God, don’t care about sacrements, transubstatiation, and the like, to me it is the trappings that hide the trues message of any religion. And I don’t just want to pick on Christianity, Islam has the same issue, more concern over ritual and law than the actual message of Mohammed. But that is another story.
Now Father Damien, Father Damien always struck me as a child, teen, and a adult. A priest, who gave his life to serve a population that no one else would, because of their disease. It has led me to what I do today. Father Damien cared less about the Church, the symbolism, etc, and more about ”Love your neighbor and you would want to be loved”.
So, I have to give it to the Catholic Church, for elevating a simple man; who especially in todays world of HIV/AIDS, Mental Illness, Disability, Poverty, Homelessness; a simple man who tried to make a difference in their lives, lives the rest of the world shunned.
Pardon Jack Johnson
Yeah, I am surprised he hasn’t been pardoned yet . . . interesting move by McCain and the GOP.
Wow . .
I wonder if the Mann Act is still in effect in Louisiana?
Malach’s Sheilk Yerbouti Video of the Day!
And if this don’t make you shake your booty, nothing will!
I am Malach, and T-Pain looks like a lot of fun to hang out with.

Aussie national anthem? Almost. Most of the population are dead against ‘Advance Australia Fair’ (a white supremacist anthem, virtually) in favour of Waltzing Matilda, a song about rising up against adversity and failing awkwardly. We are such underdogs. Love my Waits, what a great, great song from a great, great virtuoso of the voice.
Great Waits interview!
Mitzi: I agree with you Mitzi, I always wanted to get to Austraila too . .
NUrse: Thanks, figured someone would like it.
