No Plugs

You are listening too . . .
Like a lot of groups (REM, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2) The Cure’s albums after Disintegration are only ok, so I stop there.  So tonight we start with a new group, that will lead us right into the holidays . .  Fugazi.

If there is a band that should have been in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame years ago, it should Fugazi and they have never been nominated.  Even if the got in, they probably wouldn’t accept it anyway, typical Fugazi.

So your a listening too one of their most famous songs, off their first album 13 Songs . . Awsome song Waiting Room.  In that past you have seen the crazy video I have posted for it.  There are some interesting covers of the song, but this in my favorite by far, as good as the original:

One of the problem Fugazi has, is they have been around in one form or another since 1980, under different name (Minor Threat being the most famous and not far off from Fugazi) and did not realise their first official album until 1988. In addition they have always refused to sign with a major label, would do shows for $5 a person, and take strict control of the crowd, even playing hardcore punk, for crowd safety and women’s rights. I have been to a number of Fugazi shows, and they have stopped playing if the mosher is getting out of hand, or some is groping a female, escort that person out of the venue and hand him a envelope with $5 in it. Supremely talented band, both musically and lyrically, focus much of their music on political stances.

Fugazi came out of the hardcore straight edge punk scene, and took it to a much different level with their music, adding reggae, funk, crazy guitar work, big noise, and heavy riffs influenced by Led Zepplin and Queen. Very much like Public Enemy, Ian MacKaye and Guy Piccioto’s singing play off each other. They play foils to one another both singing and guitar work.

FUGAZI IN THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME!

Just got home
Yeah, I worked a couple of hours tonight, our food pantry manager could not pick up a huge donation from a local churches Thanksgiving Mass, so myself and the Residential Manage took the truck up and picked it up, I drove.  See I do everything.

Dear Malach

  • Sycopated Eyeball asks: Dear Malach, You sound so busy. Do you sleep?  Why yes I do, I am and extremely good sleeper, I am usually in bed by 10PM.  Because I work 4 days a week, I work long hours to work full time.

That Muppets thing is very funny!

  2. 2 Buzzardbilly

Excellent all the way around! There’s Freddie Mercury and Ian MacKaye both. Reminds me I’ll have to ask some folks I’m doing an interview with for an Ian MacKaye story or two for ya. Maybe it will work into my article.

Thanks for the Muppets BoRhap and have a great Thanksgiving!

A great song by Fugazi: thank you for introducing it to my hitherto uninitiated ears. My friend Gabrielle Carey just had a memoir-essay book published called ‘Waiting Room’. It is a fine piece of writing as if everything she puts her pen and brain to.

I heart the Muppets so. The Great Muppet Caper is one of my favourite films. Good sleeping advice. Might put that into practise when am working next year.

  4. 4 Malach the Merciless

    S-Eyeball: Yeah I enjoyed it

BuzzBill: Never met MacKaye, heard he is great guy though

Mitzi: Wow, no Fugazi? Enjoy the ride.
