More good news on my clients front
I have a client who I put in assisted living a year ago, to assist her with her addiction and disability issues, and has done really well, getting the addiction and diabetes and med management under control, and I am moving her into Disability Housing next week.

For those of you not familiar with assited living, basically, depending upon the plave, you get a room, or studio.  Your SSI increases to $1133 a month, and the assisted living facility gets $1033 of it.  The assisted living facility takes care of your meds, cleaning, personal care, food, utilities, etc.  For some this is good.

For this client though, who did a great job getting back control of her life, it’s not.  It leaves her with little money, and no ability to visit her poor family members 30 miles away.  So I got her into a subsidizied housing in her families city.

Some assisted living facilities are better than others, this one is OK, not great, not bad, just OK.  It is also a for profit private, which I have problem with facilities like this being for profit, but that is another story.  So, this client was sexual assaulted by one of the janitors there.  I guess he had been doing to other clients, but my client wasn’t going to stand for it, and called the police.  The facility did a good job supporting her, and they better have, cause they never did a criminal background check on the janitor, and found out he has committed acts like this in the past.

Well, they found him guilty yesterday, to the happiness of my client, cause many people did believe her because of her mental health issues.  She got a bit harrassed by the Defense, and their Private Investigator.  So, he finally pled guilty to get a 5 year sentence . . in addition he must register as a sec offender, and have 10 years of probation, also he is not allowed with 150 yards of my client or the facility, or he will do the probation time in Jail instead.

I am very proud of her, it was tough, and I also dedicate this song to her.

Happy Thanksgiving
Malach is not a huge fan of Thanksgiving, mainly cause I am not a fan of Turkey.   But I do enjoy Black Friday, but I don’t fight the lines at 4AM.  I usually get out around 6AM, get most of Santa’s Shopping done then.  Happy Turkey Day though.
